This vehicle is the feature of Our Auction
The 1935 Rolls Royce 20/25 Sport Saloon
.

This fabulous car
was used from 1935 to 1937 for "experimental purposes" by the factory. In 1937 it was taken over by E. W. Hives the managing director of R.R. who was later the chairman. In 1940 it was sold to Air Vice Marshal Saundby who was a WW1 Flying Ace. Lloyd imported this car from England in 1972. It is in very nice condition and is complete. We have copies of it's build and assignment sheets as well as documentation of the car in publications. This car is Chassis # GEH14
I have had several inquiries as to whether or not this car runs.

We were able to start this vehicle after careful inpsection on 5-13-06. The engine was completely free. It cranks via the starter motor as well as the hand crank. The motor develops 30 psi of oil pressure at just above idle. The engine runs quietly and smoothly with little exhaust smoke. All controls appear to work and the electrical system is in good shape. There is a small fuel leak at the Main/Reserve fuel selector valve under the hood and the exhaust system needs replacement. Other than those issues, this car functions and operates impressively.

If you are not a Rolls Royce enthusiast, here are some interesting facts that we discovered during our work session with the car on 5-13

The body of this car is all aluminum

The fuel pump is vaccum operated.

The car has a centralized lubrication system

It has vaccum operated turn signal flags that pop out from the B pillar

It has a magneto as well as a coil ignition

The car has a main and reserve fuel selector as well as a fuel gauge

The electrical system is 12 volt negative ground

New batteries the correct size are available at Tractor Supply Co.
