Following WWII, aircraft mechanic Charles Lincoln Nicholas returned to his hometown of Fairmont, Minnesota and subsequently opened a Crosley repair shop and then dealership ..... in a building he shared with the Peck Brothers at 1419 East Blue Earth Avenue..... Charlie was married to Ruby . Ruby Nicholas was proud to tell visitors that she lived in a Frank Lloyd Wright home at 123 Tildon in Fairmont, Minnesota
In conversations with Ruby she would speak of the Frank Lloyd Wright Crosleys - around 1950 FLW purchased a fleet of Crosleys from Smart Motors in Madison, Wisconsin
While FLW would purchase them off the showroom floor he would have them painted a special red color prior to delivery. He mostly purchased Crosley Hot Shots and Super Sports and a few station wagons - there are no mentions of Sedans
..... in 1959 a mechanic purchased from the Wright estate several Crosleys - of those he made one or two into parade cars - this mechanic lived in Wisconsin not far from the Circus Museum at Baraboo, Wisconsin ...... Several years ago Barrett-Jackson sold that car for pizza baron Tom Monaghan
The current owner purchased this car from a collector in southern Minnesota in 1991 - that collector had gotten the car from the Bloomington, Minnesota area .... where it came from before that is unknown ...... we do not know the history of this car prior to 1980
A recent check with Smart Motors only obtained a statement from them that there records did not go back 50 years ...... they offered the suggestion that the Wisconson Department of Motor Vehicles be contacted for further information .........
1947 Crosley Sedan, This interesting looking Crosley was a parade / clown car. It boasts red and white checkerboard paint. It is in fair condition. It was last driven ten years ago. It is nearly complete. This car is quite unique and certainly is an attention getter. It is currently licensed, but not driven. It has a title.

1951 Business Coupe: This car is missing some parts. The body is in excellent condition It has no title, but we have original certificate of Origin. This car has been in storage for 50 years. It was never titled.
Following WWII, aircraft mechanic Charles Lincoln Nicholas returned to his hometown of Fairmont, Minnesota and subsequently opened a Crosley repair shop and then dealership ..... in a building he shared with the Peck Brothers at 1419 East Blue Earth Avenue ..... where this vehicle spent most of its life.
In the fall of 1950 Charlie purchased from the Crosley factory this Business Coupe
From 1950 until 1958 this car was used exclusively by Charlie and the Peck Brothers in their business trade - hence the 26,388 miles on the odometer
Following Charlie's death in the 1980s the car was briefly sold to a
collector in southern Minnesota - in 1991 it was purchased by its current owner - both the collector and the current owner had long standing relationships with the Nicholas family.
In 1991 the widow of Charlie Nicholas, Ruby Nicholas, was contacted for papers related to the car - she had no title, but in her files she had the Manufacturers Statement of Origin to a Motor Vehicle, the original bill of sale, along with 1958 registration papers and some misc documents
This is a car over 50 years old that we know where it has been its entire existence
